Eight years ago I made the bold decision to bid farewell to Corporate America and embrace the entrepreneurial journey, and I've come to find contentment in that choice. There are moments when my business flourishes, and others when challenges arise, but the idea of trading my independence to be an employee in a corporate setting, confined to a cubicle, holds no appeal, regardless of the financial rewards. In essence, the concept of traditional employment no longer resonates with me.
Throughout the pandemic, the ebb and flow of my business has been paralleled by the uncertainties of the times. The prevailing sense of uncertainty has been a common thread, and it's only natural considering the circumstances. Moreover, my personal battle with occasional depression and anxiety has added an extra layer of complexity. Navigating the mandate to stay home, don masks in public spaces, and maintain physical distance from others took a toll on my emotional well-being, not to mention the financial setback I'm still working to overcome.
